After our beach hike and breakfast with fellow guests at the hostel, we head 5 km down the road to the Pancake Rocks and blow holes. High tide is happening at this moment and that is the best time to see the blow holes. This is a full blown ( pardon the pun) tourist stop run by the department of conservation. Our on and off rain and sunshine is still with us this morning. We dress for a possible downpour and it does happen.
The Pancake Rocks are thin layers of limestone that look like a stack of pancakes. The limestone erodes quickly and wave action creates huge holes in the rocks. So you have all these tourists waiting for the big wave to come in and explode through the holes. Lots of fun!
