Kimi Ora

Our lodging tonight is probably the best we have ever had anywhere. The German couple who run this spa/resort are friends of Mike. I am astounded they even have a vacancy on this gorgeous weekend. We are glad we're staying 2 nights.

We had a short day driving and a bit of time to explore Nelson, a sunny coastal town, know for its arts and crafts. We finally get to the small coastal town of Kaiteriteri and drive up a long narrow road to a beautiful forested setting looking out over a bay and island -studded ocean. Every detail has been attended to. The pool and spa area is beautifully landscaped and decorated with ceramic tile murals. Everything is organized and labeled. (The blue towels are for the pool, the white towels for the room) We spend some time in the indoor and outdoor pool and enter a grotto with steam room sauna and hot and cold showers.
I feel exhaused when our innkeeper, Barbara, describes the activities available here. There is tennis, hiking trails, climbing wall, gym, a complete spa, library, internet, a string quartet playing each night, and even a glow worm walk, to be taken after dark!
They serve vegetarian fare only. We decide to eat in their restaurant the following night.
