One of my favorite activities when visiting a foreign country is to go to the local grocery store. This tells you something about the people who live there.
Here in NZ some common vegetables have different names:
beetroot= beets, silver beets = swiss chard, swedes= rutabagas, kumara = sweet potatoes,
capsicum = bell peppers, courgettes= zucchini, rock melon=cantaloup.
Kiwis seem to be very fond of pumpkin. They sell mostly the blue variety with deep orange flesh. We've had pumpkin soup twice already.
And when you're ready to go you can put them all in your "chilly bin", or your cooler!
