Pay the Buddha

In the kitchen there is a small pantry with items for sale. You are asked to put your coins in a small dish guarded by a statue of the Buddha. There is also fresh baked bread and muffins for sale with a jar full of money. It astounds us that the honor system works in such a place.
Everyone else in the hostel seems to be German. We are really getting a chance to practice our German on this trip.
