Jason

Jason is Mike's tenant. Think a muscular, smaller and stockier version of Indiana Jones. ( Yes, he has wide-brimmed leather hat) A free-spirited Kiwi, he sold a house up the hill a while back in order to travel the world. He has a collection of small reptiles and fish pond in Mike's yard. He also is Mike's gardener and landscaper since he makes his living landscaping people's properties here on Waiheke. There is a small vegetable garden and a number of fruit trees scattered about the bush.
Jason is full of surprises. He is a former member of the NZ army and was a mercenary in Africa. If he occasionally goes out to the pub with his buddies, he often ends up as a bouncer. ( For those of you who have seen the movie "Australia", remember the opening scenes)
Jason finds out we are from Idaho and wants to know about our snakes. He is a trained herpetologist and has a special fondness for rattlesnakes. The next day he tells us tales of his journeys in Thailand and Australia wrangling snakes. The NZ government will call him if a sea snake washes up on shore from Australia in order to identify it.
We tell tell him to come visit us in Idaho and the West. We have lots of rattlesnakes!
Of course the irony of Jason is that NZ has no snakes!
